The Hollow: Chapter 22The ride to the outpost lasted twenty minutes, but no one said a word the whole way there. When we arrived, it didn't look like a standard UNSC base; it was more like a fortress. The whole outpost was two miles across, buildings towered over the roads. Light AA Guns lined the twenty foot high walls, and Scorpion tanks were positioned at the front gate as we drove past them. But on the inside, it was a whole other story. The Hollow: Chapter 22 by Joester264
Refugees and their families were on the sidewalks, with tents sprouting here and there. We were going five miles an hour, at the most, which made the Hogs' engines quiet as we moved through the streets. I could hear the civilians' anguish. Mothers and fathers trying to calm their crying children, screams of pain, and occasionally, someone trying to find their loved ones."Have you seen my son?", "Please help me, I'm looking for my brothers!"
But the one that got me the most was a small asari looking for her parents. "Momma?" She'd go up to strangers, "Where's my mommy? M
The Hollow: Chapter 20EDI's map data must've been damaged in our fall, because the base wasn't three kilometers, but thirty kilometers away, or roughly eighteen miles. The Hollow: Chapter 20 by Joester264
Paul and Garrus were way ahead of us, just barely staying within range of our communications. They hadn't seen any hostiles yet, but Mickey, Tali, and I kept our eyes peeled, because the waypoint EDI had placed lead us back into the woodland. EDI was glued to my motion tracker, figuratively speaking, monitoring any movement within a 40 meter radius.
Mickey, Tali and I formed a v-formation: I took point, Mickey had the right flank, and Tali was on the left. We kept a steady pace, and as a Spartan, I had little trouble with the speed we were going. But it was taking a toll on Tali and Mickey. I admired their dedication, but I eventually had to let them rest.
We came upon a small stream near rocks big enough for both of them to sit on. I held up a closed fist, indicating them to hold position. "Let's take ten minutes to catch our breath. EDI, al

Even using a mass relay and traveling at FTL speed, the eta to Sera was going to be 72 hours. That left a lot of time to meet the crew. I had the chance to meet Garrus, EDI, Joker, and a few others.
I asked Joker where he had met Ann, and he didn't know I was her brother. He met her about a year ago, at the Purgatory nightclub. "So she sees me and asks me to dance, but I've got Vrolik's Syndrome so I said no, but then she got me drunk! She bought me a lot of drinks and got me to dance!"
I chuckled, "Yeah, she does that". "Wait, do you know her?" "Yeah" I was about to drop the bomb on him, "you can say that we're close". "What do you mean?" "She and I are brother and sister".
He spun his seat to face me, obviously dumbstruck, "You're... You're kidding me! You two are siblings?!" I left him with a cocky smile. He said down the corridor, "I'm going to ask her about this! I hope you're just pulling my leg!"
I did meet a rookie on the Normandy. His name was Benjamin Carmine,

"Head to bay D24, Cortez" Shepard said to the pilot. Meanwhile, Ann gave Shem to Ashley and headed to the co-pilot seat. Ann was a savant at flying UT-47 Kodiak shuttles. It was a little cramped, so Saber and I stood while everyone else sat down. Shepard looked over to Ashley, "How's our little crew member doing?" Ash, we started calling her, replied with "Shem is doing great Commander". "Good to hear" Shepard said warmly, probably for the baby's behalf, and looked at me. I had my helmet on, but I swear she looked straight through my visor.
"I suppose you're curious about what we're doing, huh?" Most Spartans keep their emotions to themselves or with their squad members. As for me, I tend to be a little vocal when I'm annoyed. After being kept in the dark for a while, I replied in a cold tone, "Yeah, I am". Shepard didn't seem offended, and she stood up "Well, let's just say you and your team have been reassigned".
"With what?" She reached into her left pocket, pulled out a s
